Heartless by Marissa Meyer

Rating: 2/5
Summary:(x)

My Thoughts:
First off let me say this I love Marissa Meyer's book but I could not connect with this one at all. I probably will try to read this again to see if my rating changes at all. The plot was really interesting but the world and characters fell flat for me. I wish I could have enjoyed it more and actually not force my self to read it.

Plot:
What little of the plot written was not that great. I was not enthralled by the world or the plot It fell flat to me and it was a struggle to get through. Instead of not wanting to put the book down I struggled through it.

Characters:
I liked Catherine for the first half of the book but later I could not stand her. I liked Jest and he was the best character of the book. I could not stand the rest of the characters,

A Torch Against the Night by Sabaa Tahir

Rating:5/5
Summary: (x)

My thoughts:
This book lived up to the first one and was very good. This book did suffer from the sophomore slump like some second books do. It was a page turner that I could not put down.  I need the next book like now.  The characters were still great and made the story even better. The author is so good at world building and plot building.
Plot:
The plot as with the first book was fast paced and well written. There were plot twists and I did not see most of them coming. The author is so good at world building and describing the setting. Those descriptions added to the plot. I like how the story is split into three points of view.
Characters:
Laia is one of the best written characters in any books I have read.  I think she had the strongest point of view out of the three told. Elias is another great character I really like. His point of view was very interesting and I liked his character development. Helene, the other point of view, was very interesting and her point of view showed another side of the story.

Tune in by Mark Lewisohn (blogging for books)

Rating: 5/5
Summary: (x)

My Thoughts:
So this will be different from other reviews since this is a non fiction book. First off I am huge Beatles fan so this book was a really interesting read. I loved the way it chronicled the individual Beatles members early lives and their personal lives in the other parts of the book. The pictures included in the book were ones I had not seen before. This book was so good and gave me better insight into their early years and the early years of the band. It was a wonderful book that every Beatles fan should read.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child by JK Rowling

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child - Parts One and Two (Harry Potter, #8)

Rating: 3/5
Summary: (x)
My Thoughts:
This book was not that great and I was really disappointed by it. I wish there was more to the story and that the story was not so far fetched. I felt this story did not add anything to the Harry Potter world and I do not think I want to see the play if I ever go to London.
Plot:
The plot was far fetched and not very well written. It was fast paced but I saw all the plot twists coming. The plot twists were not really plot twists
Characters:
The original trio was out of character for me. I did not like Albus nor Scorpius. The characters were not well written or good.

The Winner's Kiss by Marie Rutkoski

The Winner's Kiss (The Winner's Trilogy, #3)

Rating:5/5
Summary: (x)
My Thoughts:
First off I apologize for the month long hiatus. I have been so busy  with  finals and college. This book was so good and is a great ending to an amazing series. I was so worried that this book was going to be a bad end to the series but I was happy to say it was not. Kestrel was still a great character and I thought she had some really good character development. Arin was also a good character but there were some things he did that I did not like.
Plot:
The plot was very well thought out and fast paced. I did not feel like the plot dragged any and the loose ends from the other books were all wrapped up. There was not much filler plot or extra stuff that felt out of place in the book.
Characters:
Kestrel is still the best character in the book. Her character growth continued through out the book. Arin was also a good character and I liked him as usual. The supporting characters were good and added to the plot.

Out of the easy by Ruta Sepetys

Rating: 5/5

Summary(x)

My thoughts:
I loved this book and all of the authors other books. Her books are always interesting and well written. She is one of my go to others. This book is set in the 1950s  and the era was well researched for the book.  Historical Fiction is always my go to genre so this was went on my must read. I liked the main character and her voice.

Plot:
This book was so entertaining and the plot was so well written.  This book was so hard to put down and I kept reading to find out what was happening to Josie. The plot twists were very good and only predicted a few of them. I did not feel there were any plot holes or lose ends.

Characters:Josie was a very good many character and I liked the way she told the story. The supporting characters added to the story and made it more colorful. I could not stand her mother and you will see why as you read the book.

Dark Matter:by Blake Crouch ( provided by netgalley)

Dark Matter

Rating:3/5

Summary: (x)

My thoughts:
First off  I got this as arc from netgalley. I was hoping to like this book but I did not at all. It was out of my usual reading comfort zone. There was not much I like which is my it took two months to read it. There are people who like this book but one of them was not me.

Plot:
It was okay and at time hard to keep up with. All of the novel seemed far fetched and not very good. I  wish it would have been good. The ending was predictable so were the plot twists
Characters:
I did not like Jason at all. The other characters were what was good about the novel.

Under the lights by Abbi Glines

Under the Lights (The Field Party, #2)

Rating: 5/5

Summary(x)

My thoughts:
First off I would like to say that I am so sorry for not posting for over a week. I have been so busy with college and have not had enough time to post. So I will try to be more active.  Now to the review. I really liked this book despite the fact there was a love triangle.  I am not really a fan of love triangles but this one was not that annoying. I loved Gunner the best out of the two boys in the triangle. Brady did not seem right for the main character. I will not reveal much about how it plays out. Willa was a great character. I thought the three points of view made the story even better.
Plot:
The plot was simple but effective. I liked the pace of the novel and it did not seem drawn out . Willa's story was very interesting and was the best part of the book. I thought the plot twists  were interesting.
Characters:Willa was very interesting. Gunner is also very good. I did not like Brady but I am so excited for his book.

The book of Esther by Emily Barton (book provided by blogging for books

The Book of Esther

Rating: 3/5

My thoughts:
When I saw the book and read the premise I thought this would be a good book. I was really disappointed and had to put down this book a couple times. But I ended up finishing it and I did not like the ending. What was good about was the setting and the characters. I wanted to love this book based on the premise and I am sad I did not.
Plot:
The plot seemed like it was not easy to follow and was my least favorite part of the book. Sometimes I could not follow the story and were it was going to end up I loved the setting and how the author described it. It added to the story and was the best part of the book.
Characters:
I loved Esther and her voice. She made the book better and I she was the best part of the book. The other supporting characters were very good and added to the story.

Falling out of love with your favorite books/series

I was on the shuttle this morning and the first thing that came to mind was falling out of love with your favorite series. It happens to everyone for whatever reason. It could be you reread the book and were like why was this my favorite. Or you could discover something problematic in the book or the way the characters are treated. Whatever the reason you fell out of love with the series it was for the best.
I was thinking about the Beautiful Creatures series, and the Hush, Hush Series. When I was younger I just adored those series. I always recommend them to people then I reread the books. I realized that as I got older and the more experience in the world I had the less I loved those series. It sucked because they were a part of my teenage years. But I  am proud of myself for realizing these books where not what I thought and that it is okay to fall out of love with a series.

My question to y'all is: What books did you fall out of love with

The orphans' s tale by Pam Jenoff ( ARC provided by NETGALLEY)

Rating 5/5

My thoughts:

I read all of the authors other books that she wrote about WWII and I would recommend all of them. This book was as good if not better than the other books I read by her. I could not put this book down cause I had to know what was going to happen next. It was such an original story and was very captivating.

Plot:
The plot was very well written and researched. It did not seem far fetched like some historical fiction novels do. It was fast paced and not very dull. I loved the circus aspect of the novel and how important it was to how the story played out

Characters:
Noa was a very complex character who I was very fond of. I thought she could have been a better character. I liked the other characters because of how they added to the story.

You Before Anyone Else by Julie Cross ( ARC RECEIVED FROM NETGALLEY)

You Before Anyone Else

Rating: 3/5

Summary: (x)

My thoughts:
I got this book as an arc from Netgalley.  I thought it was going to be a great book based on the summary by I was not impressed by this book at all. The plot was just really unrealistic and unbelievable. Finley and Eddie were so annoying and I could barely stand them. There were a lot of things that could have been better.
Plot:
There was not much of a plot and the "plot twist" was not even that. I just wished there was more to the plot because the plot was the best part of the book.
Characters:
Finley was the best character in the book. I found that she was a well written character and I could kind of relate to her. Her point of view in the book made the book worth while. Eddie on the other hand annoyed me and his point of  view chapters were very hard to read. The supporting characters were okay but at times distracting from the story.

Plot:
It was very fast paced and well written . There were things I did not like about the plot  but they were trivial. The book kept me guessing and I could not put it down. The plot was the best part of the book.

Game On (Lewis Creek, #2)

Rating:3/5

Summary: (x)

My Thoughts:
I have not read the first book but thanks to this book I will. I really liked the premise so that is why I choose to read it. It is a good summer read and I thought it was really good. There were some aspects of the book I did not like and I will mention them down below. I would recommend this book to everyone who likes young adult contemporaries and those who like young adult novels with sports in them.
Plot:
The plot is pretty straightforward. I like how the plot helped with Eric and Bri's character development. I felt the plot was the strongest part of the novel. It made the story better. My problem with the plot was I felt like it was rushed.
Characters:
I thought Eric was a very complex character. He had flaws that made us see different sides of his personality. Bri was also a well written character. She was strong and knew what she wanted. Her ex was just a plain horrible person. The other characters were interesting and very good.

Favorite Books

So I decided to share with y'all some of my favorite books and why they are my favorite.I have a lot favorite books but I narrowed the list down to my top ten favorite books. These books shaped me and I took a lot things from these books. I would highly recommend each and everyone of these books.

  • Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's stone- This is the book that got me to read.  I liked to read before I read this book in third grade. After that I could not stop reading and it was all because of this book. This book was a huge part of my childhood and it made it more magical.
  • Eragon- Another book that got me into reading. My mom worked in the library were I went to elementary school and she suggested it to me. I loved this book and still do. The thing I did not like was the wait for the last two books. I waited five years for the last book and two years for the third book. That was not great with the cliff hanger. This series is still near and dear to my heart.
  • Until Friday Night- This is a recent read and I thought it was really good. This was the first book I had read by Abbi Glines and it will not be the last book I read by her. It is a really big fan.
  • Salt to the Sea- I love Ruta Sepetys books and she is on my go to author's list. This book was so good and a tearjerker. I read this book in one sitting and it was so worth it.
  • The Book Thief- This is one of the best books ever written and probably the best book I read. This book is so well written and just a wonderful book. Seriously just go read it.
  • The Hobbit- This book is another book I read when I was younger that stuck to me. I just love this book and it will always hold a special place on my shelf. This book got me into Tolkien.
  • Legend- Legend was a book I was not sure about. I was not sold at first on the premise but I ended up getting the book. It was such a good book and very well written. It has action and mysteries. This book  starts off an amazing series.
  • Nowhere but Here-  I love everything Katie Mcgarry writes. I always have her books pre-ordered. This book was so good and hard to put down. Like all of her other books it was well written and executed.
  • Clockwork Angel- I love this trilogy so much and I thought it was better than her other series. I love historical fiction so this one was a winner for me.
  • An Ember in the Ashes- I read this book when it first came out and it was so good. It was a page turner and had a really good plot.

The leaving season by Cat Jordan

The Leaving Season

Rating: 2/5

Summary:
Middie Daniels calls this the leaving season. Her boyfriend is leaving for a gap year in South America. She thinks he is perfect and promises to come back to her. Then a tragedy strikes and the only person who understands her is Nate's best friend Lee. Lee and Middie do not get along at all but he might be able to help her.
My thoughts:
This book was a heap of  disappointment. I wanted to not finish the book but I ended up finishing the book. The plot was boring a predictable and the characters fell flat. I was hoping for a good summer set book but it was just bad. I wish I had not read this book.
Plot:
It was bad and did not have anything substantial. The plot twists were predictable and rather boring. I hated the love triangle. It made the plot worse.
Characters:
Middie was obnoxious and hard to relate to. Lee was the only character I could kind of tolerate. Nate from the little I read was boring.

(x)

My thoughts:
This book was one of  the most anticipated books on my TBR. I was so excited about this book and I could not put it down. I was hooked from the first page and it was love from then on. I just cannot say enough good things about this book. Just pick it up and see why I love it. I cannot wait for the sequel.
The Plot:
This was a page turner and kept me up late. It was so engaging  that I could not wait to see what was going to happen. It was not slow  nor predictable at all. I did not feel like it dragged in the middle like some books do. The plot twists were kinda predictable but not.
The Characters:
I really liked Amani and she was a strong, well written character.  She was a very strong women and knew what she wanted. Now on to Jin. He annoyed me at first but he grew on me. There could be some room for improvement for his character in the next book. The other characters are also very good and well written.

Lady Midnight review (SPOILERS BELOW)

Lady Midnight (The Dark Artifices #1)

Rating 3/5
Summary from goodreads (x)
Emma Carstairs is a warrior, a Shadowhunter, and the best in her generation. She lives for battle. Shoulder to shoulder with her parabatai, Julian Blackthorn, she patrols the streets of Los Angeles, where vampires party on the Sunset Strip, and faeries—the most powerful of supernatural creatures—teeter on the edge of open war with Shadowhunters. When the bodies of humans and faeries turn up murdered in the same way Emma’s parents were when she was a child, an uneasy alliance is formed. This is Emma’s chance for revenge—and Julian’s chance to get back his brother Mark, who is being held prisoner by the faerie Courts. All Emma, Mark, and Julian have to do is solve the murders within two weeks…and before the murderer targets them.

My thoughts:
Good Lord where do I start. I was looking forward to this book so much and it flopped big time. I was so disappointed with this book. I am so happy I did not waste my money and buy this book. There were a few  bright spots in an other wise dull book. I will read the second book but I do not expect it to be much better than this one. I felt like this book was too long and could have been shorter. I hope the next book is not as big as this one was. So here goes the review. Also this is not spoiler free.
The Plot:
Where do I even start I did not like it all. I thought the plot twists were predictable and not exciting. I thought  Mark's storyline should have been more in focus just not in bits and pieces of the book. The whole forbidden romance plot line was so dumb cause parabatai cannot fall in love. The flashbacks were one of the very few highlights of this book. The plot dragged in a lot of areas and it felt like some of it was unnecessary. I did like the scenes with the Blackthorn family which were mostly cute and funny at times, I liked that some old characters showed up through out the story which this book a little more bearable.
The Characters:
I did not like Emma at all. I did like Julian so much, I love that he takes care of his family and is very dedicated to them. The Blackthorn family are wonderful they were another very good thing in the book. I liked Mark and I excited to see what happens next with his story and growth. I think Christina was one of the best thinks about this book and I hope she gets more pages in the next book.
Final Thoughts:
Yikes just Yikes. Do not read this book unless you absolutely have to.
